a miniature planchette hand carved & cast immortal in sterling silver, to reside over your heart and dedicated in all sincerity to all the lovers of the true, beautiful and strange. a small glass circle is set into the planchette and it has tiny ball risers on the back, making it fully functional. this piece was created out of the stems of many veins, out of the whispers of many conjoined dreams.

firstly, a planchette is the "guide" or "tool" of a ouija board / spirit board, but was also used separately as a tool of automatic writing by victorians, spiritualists and surrealists. thought to be associated with speaking with your inner subconscious just as much as with speaking with the dead. secondly, planchettes are also looked at as divinatory objects. secret decoders spelling out secret and lost messages. both of these views are conjoined my paintings for the show planchette. they are based on the writings of danielle vogel, a shared passage of images and words. a divinatory experience with the planchette as the ultimate symbol.
